A trail sign marks the Hoapili Trail on the south east end of Maui, Hawaii. This ancient Hawaiian Trail, also known as the King’s Highway, was built in its present form under governor Hoapili (1824-1840). The trail crosses a rough lava field on the dry end of the island.
